Sunday Collector Renovation: Sunday’s Room

Sunday/Sunny/Sunny-Sue/Baby-Boo/Bubba. She’s sweet, she’s feisty, she’s passionate, and she loves her new room. We recently added some pieces from the whimsical new collection from Margherita Missoni and Pottery Barn Kids. A magical mix of gorgeous colours, the pom pom quilted bedding is really lovely quality, and the Designer Doll ‘Clara’ is Sunday’s new favourite. Floor play with baby Rafferty has been made that much sweeter with the beautiful floral rug and the luxe Daisy Pouf. As you can see these pieces have complimented the new room beautifully. Sunday’s one request was for a pink room (!!) when we moved – we settled on Taubmans Pink Sangria with the crisp Cotton Sheets white on the top half of the walls.

As you can see, she’s pretty happy with the new set up (and I really struggled to pick my favourite photo, so I’ve gone all ‘stage mum’ and shared them all). Plantation shutters were installed by Signature Shutters and Blinds and Sunday’s wearing a leotard and tutu from Cotton On.

It’s definitely a little girls room! Also pictured from Pottery Barn kids is the Kendall Dresser, the sweet Farmington Dollshouse she got from Santa a year ago and the adorable Sherpa Anywhere Doll Chair (which matches her living room chair).  The cool denim jacket was a gift from my sister, Hannah made it up herself with all the cute badges.

I love the colours in the new Margherita Missoni collection – it really pops on the ‘Greystone’ grey wool Stonefields carpet I chose from Feltex. I can honestly say that Sunday loves spending time in her new little room, it’s an eclectic mix with pops of her favourite things – flowers and the colour pink.

You can be anything

barbie1With a baby brother now on the scene, Sunday has grown up so much in the past six months. As Rafferty is gaining personality and a bigger voice in the house, I have to keep on reminding myself that this is when Sunday might be feeling a little out of sorts. She was an only child for close to 4 years, so I’m sure sharing the limelight with her baby brother has been quite an adjustment in her little world. Luckily, she’s been nothing but adoring towards baby Rafferty (honestly, really amazing), however I have noticed her purposely shifting attention to herself lately if baby Raff is doing something cute, which is completely expected!

barbie4We are making sure she gets some quality one on one time and Sunday was lucky enough to be sent a Barbie pack recently that she of course couldn’t wait to open and set up. Personally, I was pleased to see Barbie was an inspirational farm vet, wearing work gear and not sky high heels ready for a night on the town. The gift was to promote a new campaign You Can Be Anything, which is doing great things. From Mermaid to Movie Star, Pet Vet to Police Officer, Barbie has had countless career choices over the years and the brand has (180 and growing) certainly always encouraged children to dream big.

The latest campaign aims to bring to life this philosophy through three incredible Aussie kids who challenge stereotypes and push the boundaries, redefining what it means to be a young person in the world. The campaign sets out to prove that you don’t need to be a ‘grown up’ to achieve your dreams with all three ambassadors featuring in short films about their extraordinary lives. The three inspiring videos starring Quincy the surfing champion, Cael – who single-handedly raised over $10,000 for charity by the time he was eight, and Grace the YouTube star can be viewed here.

To celebrate the campaign, Barbie is running a competition for one lucky kid to win a personalised $10,000 experience to help them with their dream.  Click here for more information about the competition. Such an amazing opportunity!

barbie3 barbie2It got me thinking about what Sunday would like to be when she’s older, and how it might change over the years (I originally wanted to be a newsreader just like Geraldine Doogue, which later changed to a high school art teacher). I’ve decided to document a series of questions every year to see how much her answers change. I’ll start the same tradition with Raff when he’s old enough. Funnily enough, her answer regarding what she wants to be when she’s older was the cutest.

Here are is Sunday’s questionnaire for 2016:

1. What is your favourite colour: Pink and Rainbow

2. What is your favourite toy? A Beanie Boo and Mermaid Barbie that we got in Fiji (Seriously, this is her strongest memory of our Fiji holiday from a year ago).

4. What is your favourite TV show? I like Peppa Pig

A few things

It’s been way too long between posts on here. Life’s been good. Baby Raff (aka the cheeriest person I’ve ever met) is already 5 months old and having his first tastes of yummy things like carrot and pear. I’ve got a cute highchair that I’ll get a few snaps of him in once he’s got that big cute head of his under control. Sunday is growing up right before our eyes and making us laugh more and more each day, I love the kind and outgoing person she is becoming – someone I’d really like to be friends with, and that’s something Mark and I are really proud of.

I’m working on a few exciting decorating projects that I need to get better at sharing on here (watch this space), all made possible because I’ve found an amazing ‘grandma type’ nanny (and true baby whisperer) who watches Raff for a few hours at a time so I can punch some work out. Sleepless nights are a whole other story, but it feels different second time around, you realise that it eventually changes and there truly is light at the end of that sleepless tunnel. It also helps that Rafferty beams the most heart melting smile every time my head appears over his cot – no matter what hour.

Below is a game of catch up and a round up of a few things I’ve been loving lately.

We had the most amazing lunch with my sister and family at the The Newport recently. It’s been recently renovated, or I should say ‘Merivaled’ and it is oh-so-cool. Built around gorgeous gardens with incorporated outdoor dining spaces and bars, we indulged in a delicious spread of roast chicken, seafood, salads and pizzas. Th kids ended the day with donuts and ice creams. A really beautiful family day out – a good tip is to get there at around 11.00am to score a great lunch table.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetMy parents came back from a month long holiday in France last week and Sunny scored a gorgeous paint set from Monet’s garden. I love how much time she’s spending on her art, I’m so impressed with her focus and pride in the work she does. The relative silence in the house also doesn’t hurt.

Processed with VSCOcam with a4 presetMy 10kg butter ball sure loves to nurse, so this lovely Mama Body Tea arrived in my post box at a great time. It’s an organic and caffeine free herbal tea range to assist women and their babies. I’m completely guilty of a morning coffee to get me functioning for the day (oh sweet jesus, never take that cup of gold away from me), so I’ve been loving this as an afternoon pick me up alternative.

I hope you are all having a great week.

Winter Walk

Briar064Winter may have come on late recently, but it has come on thick and fast. For our walks, puffer vests and scarves are suddenly out of the cupboard in our house, and our strong Bugaboo Buffalo is working beautifully for chilly outings as a family.

BugabooWinterPictured above is a mood board I’ve put together with items inspired by some lovely Winter accessories that have ‘warmed up’ our Bugaboo Buffalo, ensuring Baby Raff isn’t too cold when we head out for our family adventures.

  1. Soft Wool Blanket from Bugaboo, which is in the nicest grey tone and truly soft for baby.
  2. Nikes from Style Runner are on my lust list – the cutest tennis inspired numbers.
  3. Fedora from Lack of Color, my cousin introduced me to this cool hat label, and I’m keen for one this Winter.
  4. Bag from Bugaboo, so handy as a nappy/carry anything bag, latches on to the pram easily too!
  5. Diary from kikki.K, I’m still old school for some reason – I handwrite all my appointments in a paper diary, avoiding the phone.
  6. Bugaboo Buffalo with grey malange tailored fabric set (with extendable sun canopy), which is perfect for keeping sun off the faces of those beautiful babies.
  7. Bugaboo Cup holder, which is vital for a drink bottle while walking.
  8. Scarf from Country Road, which had me at the polka dots.
  9. Reusable Coffee Mug from KeepCup, handy and I love the colour combinations the cups come in.
  10. Knit Gloves from Seed, keeping those hands warm for all that pram pushing.
  11. Seat Liner in Dark Khaki from Bugaboo, super comfortable and a practical protector form baby spills.
  12. Duffel Coat from Trenery, I just love this cosy jacket!
  13. Puff Bag Charm from Shopbop, serving as a cute addition to the nappy bag (Sunday would love this).
  14. Pinky-Nudy Lipgloss from Go-To SkincareBriar112
I rarely leave the house without the Bugaboo, as it’s also my trusty carry cart – I manage to fit so much in the under carriage it’s not funny! Sunday has taken to the wheelie board like a pro, I’m really impressed by the weight the pram can manage, my babies aren’t what you’d call petite.A shot of the most precious cargo in his chariot – little Rafferty. Nothing says Winter more than a wool blanket and a cardigan knitted by your Nan.  Cosy, cosy, cosy.

Image 1 + 3 taken by the talented Tealily. This post was written in collaboration with Bugaboo.

I’m about to publish a load of family photos on here because I feel completely compelled to sing the praises of Trish from Tealily Photography. It was so hard to cull the numbers down to my favourites, so there’s a few! Trish visited our home early one morning last week and spent a few hours with the four of us, she photographed our movements in and around our local hood in the golden Autumn light. It sounds cliché, but the memories she captured will be something we will cherish forever, we couldn’t be happier with the story that the photos unfold. Pictured below is just a handful of the photographs – I love how Trish has managed to communicate the innocence of baby Rafferty, the sweet bond between Sunday and Mark, and the unwavering love I have for my little family. I am so in awe of her talent, Trish uses the camera like she could do it with her eyes closed, and with a completely laid back and friendly approach – all while managing to capture the finest details and the sweetest moments.  Ahhhhh…I just have so much love for these photos!
